Nearly Half Of Engineering College Seats Are Going Vacant…

Only about half of engineering college seats were filled per news reports. In a handful of states, against total intake of 16.3 lakh seats, only around 8.4 lakh seats were filled. This is hitting government and private engineering colleges and institutes, but not the IITs and NITs. The main reasons seem to be a near stagnant job / placement market and a great variety of options available for non-engineering fields. But this trend is a growing concern which needs deeper analysis and survey.
