CFBC’s functions restricted to certification by Shyam Benegal led committee

On behalf of the government, a Shyam Benegal led committee has come to the conclusion that the CFBC ( Central Board of Film Certification) should only be given the power to assign certification to films. The question about the CFBC’s exclusion function was raised by Shashi Tharoor. The Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar quoted an earlier report submitted by the Shyam Benegal led committee to clarify that the CFBC could not modify or impose changes on a film.
