Priyanka Gandhi barred from visiting Sonbhadra victims families

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was stopped by the Uttar Pradesh Police while she was on her way to visit the families of the victims of the Sonbhadra violence. The Sonbhadra incident involved the death of 10 people due to shooting. On being restricted from visiting the site of violence, Priyanka Gandhi protested through a sit-in outside the police station. She claimed that she was being detained and she felt like she was being arrested. However, the UP Police have said that she was not detained but was only stopped from going to the sensitive area. Sonbhadra is currently under Section 144.
