India Will Have CDS Says Narendra Modi On Independence Day Red Fort
The position of CDS, chief of defense was on hold for a long time, from the Kargil conflict in 1999, to have a “single-point military advice”. The news was shared by Narendra Modi on 15th August, ceremony held at the Red Fort.
This tri-service chief position will be allotted to General Bipin Rawat who will be responsible for the procurement, training and logistics among the Army, Navy and Indian Air Force. PM Modi said on the Independence day ““To further sharpen coordination between the forces, I want to announce a major decision from the Red Fort: India will have a CDS.
