AWARD WAPSI’S HAVE REVERSED STAND AGAIN …
Writer Nayantara Sahgal, who was the first to do the ‘award waapsi’, now has decided to take back her award and also the sizable award cheque. Nand Bhardway, a Rajasthani also has followed suit noting that he is satisfied with the Akademi’s assurances. So it looks like some or most might keep or not return their awards. Arguably, some did it per their conscience (or should we say selective conscience), whereas others it was more to get some media attention. One is left wondering if the sizable prize money could be motivation too…
