Kaushambi Gang Rape- An attack on gender, caste and religion?
On September 24th, a minor girl was gangraped in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district and a video was recorded by the offenders. Three Muslim men attacked the girl belonging to a Dalit Pasi caste. The area has been increasingly witnessing crimes based on caste and religion. After the video went viral, several other details have been unearthed and it has been alleged that the girl was forced to plead in Allah’s name and not Bhagwan’s name if she wanted to be let go of. The girl has faced layers of oppression by society due to her gender and now her caste and religion are becoming added barriers. The local legal system is also so insensitive, the police first questioned the authenticity of the crime even after looking at the state in which the girl was. Such incidents are disturbing and it is not understandable how humans are becoming more unhuman every passing second.
