PM Modi presents Chinese President with silk shawl showing Indian craftsmanship
PM Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mamallapuram as part of an Informal Summit. PM Modi gifted Xi Jinping with an exquisite handwoven silk shawl with Jinping’s portrait on it. The carefully crafted shawl has taken 15 days of hard labour and it shows how talented Indian craftsmen are. The shawl was made in Coimbatore by two weavers under the guidance of a designer. PM Modi wore the traditional veshti on the first day of the Summit to welcome Xi Jinping. In a society where everything is becoming Westernized. It is refreshing to see Indian culture being embraced.
