The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered Karnataka government to deposit 100 crore for bank guarantee as the government fails to look into the pollution of the water in Balandur lake, Bengaluru. An amount of Rs 500 crore is asked by NGT to be deposited in the escrow account.

The NGT is disappointed by the performance of the Karnataka government as they fail to restore the poor condition of the Balandur lake, including the disposal of the forced stormwater drain in Karnataka. Plea was given to the Supreme court against the NGT but SC denies to interrupt between NGT and Karnataka Government.
