Face-off Between Railways, VHP Over Removal Of 250-year-old Temple From Agra’s Raja ki Mandi Railway Station
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have strongly objected to Indian Railways’ notice to the priest of Chamunda Devi temple in Agra in Uttar Pradesh asking for the removal of the temple from the platform as well as from railway land. In its notice, the Railways has said the temple structure was causing inconvenience to passengers as well as affecting train movement. The Railways had served a notice to the Ma Chamunda Devi Temple which has been in place at Agra’s Raja ki Mandi Railway Station’s platform no. 1 for the last 250 years.
