Ganesha Murthi Desecrated With Footwear, How Many More Insults To Hindu Deities Will Be Brushed Off
A Bhagwan Ganesha murthi at a temple in Belur town, Karnataka, was desecrated after a pair of footwear was placed upon it, triggering anger and outrage among local devotees on Sunday. The footwear was first noticed by a few Hindu locals who routinely visit the temple in the morning to offer prayers. CCTV footage confirmed movements of a masked woman entered the Ganesha temple on municipal office premises near the bus stand and placed a pair of slippers on the murthi. Ritual purification was immediately carried out to restore sanctity, but the act left deep emotional wounds in the Hindu community.
