Assam CM Himanta Sarma Tightens Grip On Polygamy

No government welfare schemes for people indulging in polygamy, Assam government has made it clear.

Announcing the big decision after the state budget for 2026-27 was placed in the state assembly, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Any person involved in polygamy will not get any beneficiary schemes from the government. If any government employee is involved in polygamy, he will be dismissed from job with immediate effect”, CM Sarma said.
