A 51-year-old British man, Jean Paul, travelled over 6,800 km to India for a double knee replacement after facing a reported three-year wait through the UK’s NHS. According to his account, private treatment in the UK was estimated at around £40,000. His medical package in India cost about £14,000 a difference of roughly ₹33 lakh. He underwent bilateral knee replacement at Max Healthcare and received physiotherapy before returning to the UK. The story has sparked debate online over healthcare costs, waiting times.
