Empower Women: First Time In Indian History Women In Men’s Army Detachment.
On Army day, 15th January, it was for the first time that women led the men’s detachment along with 144 men and Lieutenant Prakash Kasturi led the crew, sign of empower women. Captain Shikha Surabhi who had led motor bicycle stunts as a note of greeting their guests performed the art of stunts with a team of 33 men.
Women were limited to Medical services to serve the army till the period of 10 years and on special cases were extended to plus 4 years. Now SSC officers, women will be granted Permanent commission equally in Naval Armament Branch. About 10 sectors of Army are granted were granted with the permanent commission apart from it non-sea going cadres or branches are open for the recruitment of Women through short service commission.
