Facebook is a major platform for sharing information and news stories. Collaborating with Indian media organizations, Facebook attempts to scrutinize news in regional languages for false information. Affiliated applications such as WhatsApp are under the scrutiny of the Indian government to prevent untoward incidents such as mob attacks due to false news.
