GOVT PLANNING REGISTRY OF SEX OFFENDERS – A FIRST FOR INDIA
India’s Women & Child Development minister Maneka Gandhi is strongly pitching for a national registry of sex offenders. Further, registered sex offenders may be required to periodically appear in person to their local law enforcement agency for purposes of giving details of their personal information such as present address and place of employment. This is an innovative law and it is hoped it will become law. This law at the very least will make society aware of such offenders in their midst but it could also help reduce the number of crimes across women.
