IAS OFFICER WAS TRANSFERRED BEFORE FLOODS AS HE WARNED OF FLOODS

Dr. Vijay Pingale a highly competent and scrupulous officer was transferred by Chennai Corporation due to pressure from the powerful contractor lobby. Officials said on condition of anonymity that the contractor lobby felt the heat as he penalized contractors with massive fines for for poorly laid roads. Even ministers were getting uncomfortable – and then he was transferred. However, it was his work that reduced reduced the extent of water logging when it rained in Chennai.
