Social Media Obsession: Facebook live after stabbing family?
The social media obsession is not only turning out to be a disadvantage but it is increasingly becoming a cause for disturbed mental health. Recently a 27-year-old man from Hooghly stabbed his family members and showing no signs of guilt or remorse, he went on to make a Facebook Live video. His attack resulted in the death of his grandmother and injuries to his parents. The basic human emotions of care and respect are being replaced by indifference and intolerance with the increasing use of social media. Officers investigating the case have arrested the man and discovered a history of addiction to drugs leading to abnormally violent behaviour. The effect that psychoactive drugs have on the human mind are detrimental to one’s health and others. Social media seems to be moving soon into the list of substances that are threatening to mental health and behaviour.
