12 Congress MLA’s seek a merger of TRS in Telangana
12 Congress MLA’s from Telangana met Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas after Congress’ poor performance in the state to seek a merger of the Congress Legislature Party with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS). Rules dictate that a minimum of 2/3rd members must be compliant in order for a merger. 12 out of 18 Congress members have sought a merger. The Congress Legislative Council has already merged with TRS. Congress leaders have alleged that the move was intended to weaken the voice of the opposition.
