Amarinder Singh appeals to high court to escalate the speed of rape trial
Punjab CM Amarinder Singh appealed to the Haryana High Court to increase the speed of the processes involved in a rape case trial. He wrote to the Chief Justice of Punjab and included several crucial provisions such as section 173 which stipulates a period of time within which trials related to rape have to be conducted. The number of rape cases in Haryana and Punjab have been on the rise and is a cause for concern. Amarinder Singh’s plea to introduce speedy trials is crucial in order to ensure that rape victims are served justice at the earliest while the perpetrators are presented in court and receive the punishment they deserve.
