Center plans scrapping NEET PG while Tamilnadu does not get exempted from NEET
The Health Ministry led by Harsh Vardhan has proposed that the NEET PG exams for MD and MS courses be scrapped and the MBBS exam score be considered for admissions. This proposal has received mixed responses. While some feel that it relives the burden of studying for an additional exam, doctors who have already graduated and are preparing for the exam are questioning how admissions will be conducted for them. Some also felt that the NEET PG exam was necessary as it would filter the best doctors to pursue their specializations. Amidst this, Tamilnadu’s request to be exempted from the NEET exam for medical college admissions has been turned down by the center. The Center has said that all states will have to go through a uniform test and there will be no exemptions.
