Checkpoint 'tipline' by Whatsapp to track rumours

WhatsApp has started a Checkpoint ‘tipline’ where its Indian users can report uncertain information that may seem false. Checkpoint is a research initiative backed by WhatsApp to study the quantity and quality of rumours spread among people during the time of elections. The initiative is in collaboration with India based start up, PROTO which will verify whether a reported message contains false information or not.
