Dalits protest against demolition of Ravidas Mandir in Delhi
The Dalits of Delhi gathered together and staged a protest to express their dissent against the demolition of the Ravidas Mandir in Delhi. Various Dalit organisations were a part of this movement and they marched towards the site of the temple despite being resisted by the Police. The Delhi Development Authority claimed that the demolition was ordered by the Supreme Court. The Dalits drew a parallel to their struggle with the Ram Mandir case in Ayodhya. They questioned why they should not be allowed to protest or demand their temple to be rebuilt if other communities are allowed to do so.
