Jai Shri Ram threat videos have become common on social media
In the past week social media especially Twitter has been flooded with incidents of physical violence regarding the term ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Several videos have been circulating where it allegedly Muslims have been beaten and lynched for refusing to utter ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on various occasions. In an interesting turn of events, it was discovered that a man who had threatened another Muslim man to do sit-ups when he did not repeat ‘Jai Shri Ram’ was, in fact, Muslim himself. The man Apsi Mian from Coochbehar has been arrested for forcing Asgar Ali to say the phrase. The credibility of allegations and videos circulated on social media are highly questionable, especially given the sheer quantity in which they are being posted.
