Karnataka government dissolves as Congress-JDS lose floor test
The political turmoil in Karnataka finally gets a conclusion. The Congress-JDS alliance failed to prove a majority in the trust vote. The alliance managed to get only 99 votes while the BJP got 105 votes. In the 2018 election, it was BJP who had got a majority, however the Congress and the JDS joined hands to form the government. The Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has submitted his resignation to the Governor, Vajubhai Vala. This is the second time where Kumaraswamy has had to resign before the completion of his term. Politics in Karnataka has always been fragile and since the formation of the state in 1956, only 3 chief ministers have completed the full 5 year term.
