Largest teacher training programme ‘NISHTHA’ launched by HRD Ministry
The HRD Ministry launched a teacher training programme called ‘NISHTHA’ which is said to be one of the largest programmes in the field in the world. The aim of NISHTHA is to train almost 42 lakh teachers in the country and equip them with the necessary skills. Teacher Training Centers are being identified and mapped on Google Earth to improve accessibility. A website was also launched which will be updated with content for teachers to access and will be supplemented by a mobile application. The initiative is welcomed and appreciated as the need of the hour is to improve the quality of education thereby improving employment opportunities.
