Mahagathbandhan alliance shortlived as Mayawati hints at disintegration
The Mahagathbandhan alliance involving SP-BSP, parties that were previously at loggerheads with each other is likely to disintegrate. BSP chief Mayawati recently announced that her party would be contesting in the UP by poll elections by itself and not in collaboration with other parties. The Mahagathbandhan alliance had not performed well in the Lok Sabha election. Mayawati blamed the poor performance on SP chief Akshilesh Yadav and said that he could not even ensure the victory of his wife Dimple Yadav who lost o BJP’s Subhrat Pathak. Mayawati went on to say that the SP did not work hard enough for the alliance and did no ensure the transfer of votes from their respective vote banks. The tensions between SP and BSP had started during campaigning where the workers of both parties were not cooperative.
