Naveen Patnaik requests PM Modi to grant special category status to Odisha
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik met PM Modi and asked for a special category status to be granted to Odisha in the centre-state finances due to Cyclone Fani after congratulating Modi on his landslide victory. Naveen Patnaik appealed to the PM for financial assistance of Rs 5000 crore in order to recover the state from the damages caused by Cyclone Fani. Patnaik said that his request was genuine and undeniable. Patnaik is also scheduled to meet the President Ram Nath Kovind to discuss matters regarding the natural disaster. The coastal state of Odisha was the most damaged by Cyclone Fani. The Odisha government has received praise for its timely arrangements and relief work.
