Nalini Sriharan, one of the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case has sought 6-month parole on account of her daughter’s wedding. The court however granted only 30-day parole saying that it was the maximum that the law permitted for a convict sentenced to life imprisonment. The parole was given on the conditions that Nalini would not give any interviews or contact any persons with political affiliations. The daughter who is getting married is currently studying medicine in the UK and she was born in jail. This is the 27th year of Nalini’s life imprisonment.
