12 CRPF Jawans Killed By Maoists On Election Day…
As counting of the recently concluded state elections was in progress, we learn that a 100 person CRPF contingent was attacked at around 9:00 am in the Sukma district of Chattisgarh, a heavily maoist infested area. More than 12 soldiers were killed and several more injured. Even as we celebrate democracy with peaceful and smooth elections and change of government, as we celebrate Holi with our loved ones, we need to remind ourselves of the service and sacrifices our soldiers and paramilitary in keeping peace in everyday life. The government has announced a Rs. 1 crore ex-gratia payment to each family of the deceased soldier.
