500,000 PONDS TO BE BUILT FOR WATER CONSERVATION… WHAT PART WILL WE PLAY?
India – rural, farms and cities are facing acute water scarcity – due to rainfall scarcity, dry rivers, well below normal reservoir levels and growing consumption. India is planning to build 5 lakh ponds – nearly 1 per village for obviously water consumption but also to create assets through community involvement. All can participate – city dwellers can take up simple to complex tasks to conserve water and help build up the underground water tables. We all want water and that too lots of it – so we all better do our part need to be part of the solution…
