INDIAN-AMERICAN GUJJU WANTS TO MAKE GUJARATI FOOD WORLD FAMOUS
Indian American Hetal Vasavada, winner of Master Chef US is proud of her Indian and Gujarati heritage, unlike many of her peers even though they grew up in mostly an Indian environment. As an up and coming leading Master Chef, Ms. Vasavada wants to popularize Gujarati food worldwide, which is not as well known as Punjabi food or South Indian food. Not to forget that she made the famous ‘khichdi’ on MasterChef US and it was total hit. Ms. Vasavada feels that Gujarati which is mostly vegetarian and light, should be able to find a ready audience as food trends points to increasing interest in lighter food that is spicy but vegetarian.
