‘Proud Moment’: Garba Added To Unesco List Of Intangible Cultural Heritage
The dance form of Garba was recently added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the addition of Garba to the list “inspires us to preserve and promote our heritage for future generations”. In a post on X, Modi wrote, “Congrats for this global acknowledgement.“ According to Unesco, the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is made up of those intangible heritage elements that help demonstrate the diversity of this heritage and raise awareness about its importance.
