62 celebrities (such as Kangana Ranaut, Prasoon Joshi) wrote an open letter to PM Modi in retaliation to a previous letter written to him by 49 other celebrities (inclusing Aparna Sen, Adoor Gopalkrishan) raising questions about mob lynching. The letter addressed Selective Outrage and False Narratives. It strongly questioned why the previous letter wasn’t written only to talk about mob lynching and why they had not raised their voice against several critical issues such as tribal killings in the past. While mob lynching and killing is an important social issue to be addressed, one must be consistent in voicing their outrage. Everyone in the country is entitled to have their opinions heard and expressed. Both letters are valid in their own sense. Discussion and debate forms the essence of a democracy.
