Afghan Finance Minister Before Taliban Takeover Is Now An Uber Driver In Washington DC

Former Afghan finance minister Khalid Payenda is now an Uber driver in Washington DC. Payenda had resigned as the finance minister a week prior to the Taliban’s capture of Kabul in August 2021. He had then fled for the United States of America (USA) to join his family as he feared getting arrested by then-Afghan president Ashraf Ghani.
