The National Education Policy 2019 recommends a three-language system which recommended the inclusion of Hindi in the syllabus of all non-Hindi speaking states. The NEP draft was prepared while Prakash Javadekar was the HRD minister. The Anti-Hindi uproar has sprung from the Southern states, most strongly from Tamilnadu backed by MK Stalin and P Chidambaram. Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy and Kerala minister Shashi Tharoor joined the Anti-Hindi uproar. Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar took to Twitter to assure the states that the Center had no intention of imposing Hindi on them and that the NEP was just a draft which would be reviewed and revised keeping the interests of all before being implemented. The Modi government has always been in favour of fostering and safeguarding the culture of India of which language is an integral part.
