Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had previously made a misguiding statement where he said that people who donated more than Rs 10 crore would have a village named after them. People on Twitter condemned Yediyurappa’s announcement as they felt that the names of villages have symbolic meanings and they acnnot be replaced. Following this, he clarified that layouts would be names after the donors and not villages. Karnataka is currently going through a severe flood situation and the situation has not improved in weeks. He also met PM Modi to appeal for funds since the relief work is extensive and many districts are affected.
