Former lawmaker and Congress leader A P Abdullakutty was expelled from the party for praising the work of PM Modi. The Congress leader said that Modi upheld Gandhian values in his governance and cited the examples of Swachh Bharat and LPG subsidy. The Congress had demanded an explanation from Abdullakutty for his statements and not finding his response satisfactory, the Kerala Congress Chief Mullappally Ramachandran expelled him. It is speculated that he might join the BJP soon. He had initially joined Congress sue to his expulsion from CPI(M) in 2009. Recently several eminent Muslim personalities have praised Modi for addressing the welfare of minorities. At this turn of events, a leader from the minority community joining the BJP would not be surprising.
