Delhi Commission for Women head Swati Maliwal recently shared a video of a child assault which had happened around 3 months ago. The video was explicit and showed an elderly man sexually assaulting a young girl. Swati Maliwal faced backlash for sharing the video even though the victim’s face was blurred. Many have said that it wasn’t necessary to share the video on social media while reporting a crime. Twitter has asked her not to share such videos online. Swati later deleted it and clarified that her only intention was to get justice for the girl. It was later found out that the incident had occurred in Hyderabad and the man involved has been caught. People have said that as the head of the DCW she should have done her research before raising false alarms and sharing sensitive content.
