Hello @HDFC_Bank, @HDFCBank_Cares, the bindi has a sacred significance for Hindus. Your depiction of a woman sporting a bindi designed as the universal prohibition sign i.e. ‘no’ symbol, is deeply offensive and utterly distasteful. For an ‘Indian’ bank to do this when Hindus are celebrating Navratri, a festival dedicated to Maa Durga and all forms of the feminine divine, is even more reprehensible. Have HDFC executives who green-flagged this ad in print, become completely deracinated and disconnected from roots?
We request all HDFC Bank customers to immediately reach out to their relationship managers and express their strong protest at this denigration of a sacred Hindu symbol, and demand that HDFC withdraw this ad and issue a public apology.
