Congress leader Digvijaya Singh accused Twitter India of directing political discourse by blocking the options for users to retweet his posts. He said that a simple post wishing Rahul Gandhi on his birthday was blocked from being retweeted by Twitter. He also said that several of his old tweets were missing. Singh accused Twitter of being biased and taking a political stance when it ought to be a platform for expression by all. Several users suggested that it could be an issue with Singh’s privacy settings and directed him to fix it. Soon after his Twitter timeline returned to normal. It is unclear whether the issue was with his settings or if Twitter India had interfered.
