Filmmaker and playwright Girish Karnad passes away
One of India’s revolutionary and acclaimed playwright and filmmaker Girish Karnad passed away at the age of 81 in Bangalore following a prolonged illness. His plays which were written in Kannada are now famous in all Indian languages and English. Girish Karnad has left behind a legacy for Kannada literature and theatre. Karnad’s sincerity and simplicity made him a truly wonderful personality. His family has said that Karnad did not wish to be buried ceremoniously and hence they have declined a state funeral. Girish Karnad will continue to live through his work.
