Nidhi Choudhari, IAS Officer from Mumbai recently tweeted against Mahatma Gandhi which sparked a controversy. Nidhi Choudhari stated in her Tweet that all Gandhi statues around the world must be taken down along with his image on the Indian currency notes. She also added that the ‘Father of the Nation title must not be associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s name. Nidhi Choudhari went one step further to thank Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse for his act. On facing criticism and backlash, Choudhari said that she was only attempting to speak against the vilification of Gandhi’s legacy. She went on to question why the tweet sparked a row several days after she posted it and not immediately.  Her statements seem to be in the same line as Sadhvi Pragya’s, who had hailed Nathuram Godse as a patriot during her election campaign.
