IAS Officer reaches Mt Everest peak with a mission to promote Swachh Ganga

An IAS Officer from Uttar Pradesh, Ravindra Kumar who is posted in the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation reached the summit of Mt Everest. He took gangajal (water from the river Ganga) with him to the peak of Mt Everest and offered it to the mountain in order to attract the attention of people towards the Swachh Ganga project. Ravindra Kumar is the first IAS Officer to scale the heights of Mt Everest. His intention to take up the strenuous climb was to bring to attention the increasing water pollution and the need to save rivers. The initiative has definitely caught the interest of many people in India.
