Israeli Beer Company withdraws packaging with Mahatma Gandhi’s photo
An Israeli Beer Company named Malka had released a product to celebrate Israel’s 71st Independence Day with Mahatma Gandhi’s picture on the packaging. AAP MP Sanjay Singh brought this to notice in the Rajya Sabha after which External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took the necessary steps to prevent further production with the packaging. The Israeli company has apologized for hurting Indian sentiments and said that it had intended to commemorate Gandhi through the picture on the celebratory wine bottles. Mahatma Gandhi was strictly against Alcohol or any intoxicating substance which is also mentioned in the Directive Principles of State Policy.
