JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR WHO SHARED MAMATA BANERJEE CARTOONS ACQUITTED AFTER 11 YEARS

Jadavpur University professor Ambikesh Mahapatra, arrested for forwarding an allegedly defamatory cartoon about Mamata Banerjee and Mukul Roy, was acquitted in the case after 11 years of legal battle. On April 12, 2012, an FIR was filed against him at the East Jadavpur Police Station and he was subsequently arrested. Speaking to India Today TV, Mahapatra said his battle was against all kinds of atrocities. The Alipore District Court asked the lower court to discharge the professor from the criminal case.
