The Modi government passed a resolution to scrap Article 370 which gave Jammu and Kashmir special status. Jammu and Kashmir will be considered a Union Territory of India with its own legislature. Ladakh will be a separate union territory without a legislature. The move signals the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union. The ruling government has said that Article 370 was hampering the growth of the state by restricting and its removal will lead to development. While many like the previous CM’s of J & K have opposed the decision, only time will tell what consequences the decision will have. Home Minister Amit Shah has said that he is willing to answer all the questions of the people regarding the move.
