Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the BCCI should stand with MS Dhoni on the glove controversy initiated by ICC. The ICC asked the BCCI to remove the insignia of the Indian Army crest from MS Dhoni’s glove after India’s match with South Africa. The BCCI has asked the ICC to reconsider its decision and has justified that the logo was not commercial or political thereby not against the rules. Rijiju said that Dhoni’s identity was synonymous with the country’s and the army’s identity. Several sportspersons have come out in support of Dhoni on social media. Dhoni was conferred the title of Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Army in 2011.
