Mamata Banerjee questions EC on transfer of IPS officers

West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to the Election Commission asking for details about the transfer of four IPS Officers and orders to ensure that they were not involved in the election process. Ms. Banerjee felt that the decision was biased as no prior notice or reasons for the transfer were given. The Law and Order function falls under the state list of the constitution yet the state was not consulted on the matter.
