West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee unveiled a new Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar statue after an old one was vandalized during an election rally by the BJP. The new statue of Vidyasagar’s bust will be installed in the Vidyasagar college where it originally was. Another stature made of fibreglass was unveiled along with the bust.  This statue is going to be installed in the courtyard. Though it is not known who the real culprits behind the vandalism are, Mamata Banerjee attacked the BJP and said that it was deliberately trying to attack Bengal’s culture. The BJP has just begun to gain the trust of Bengal and would not do anything that could hamper the process. It is another issue that Bengal is a part of India and the party at the centre would not attack its own culture.
