The Nagaland government questioned the Naga Student’s Federation for hoisting the Naga National Flag on 14th August in order to celebrate Naga Independence Day. The NSF hoisted the flag in all Naga community dominant areas across the North East in order to reinforce their unique identity. The Nagaland government said that this may lead to a violation in the law and order of the state. All the district commissioners of the state have been directed to hold meetings with local student bodies to make them understand the legal complexities of their action. The NSF President has however clarified that it was not done to instigate political conflicts but to embrace their distinct culture.
